Welcome to Nursery!

Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint - Isaiah 40:31

At Saviour we follow three Golden Goals: to be ready, respectful and safe.

Children need to be in school and on time every day, this is important for their learning. The school gates are open between 8:40 and 8:55. The children will enter via the gate on Egginton Street.

Children must be in full school uniform every day. This includes: navy blue cardigan/jumper, grey/black school trousers/skirt, a yellow polo and black sensible school shoes. Please ensure your child brings their coat to school daily to ensure they are equipped to go out and play during the day.

The school day finishes at 11:45 - children must be collected from the gate on Eggington Street.

Our current topic is All About Me.

The children will also be leanring about the seasonal changes that take place during Autumn.

Our current story is The Little Red Hen.

Phonics

Children take part in daily phase 1 phonics sessions. These are split into 7 different aspects: environmental sounds, instrumental sunds, body percussion, rhythm and rhyme, alliteration, voice sounds, and oral segmetning and blending.

Maths

Children take part in daily maths sessions that consist of hands on, pracftical and concrete work. Children will develop an understanding of numbers to 5, as well as coutning with 1:1 correspondance and solving real world mathematical problems.

Physical Activity

In Early Years, the children have continuous access to our outdoor environment every day and have regular forest school sesisons - whatever the weather! Please ensure your child brings a warm, waterproof coat every day and has a pair of wellies to leave at school. Children in Nursery have PE every Friday but will not need to change into a PE kit.

Nursery Rhymes

Children in EYFS will benefit from hearing and singing nursery rhymes daily. Here are some videos to nursery rhymes that they will be listening to and learning in school. Listening to these at home with your children will really help to embed them and this will also support with phonics.
